How To Look Slim & Your Best in Photos!

Not everyone has a crowd of paparazzi’s following them daily, but when that camera comes out for the individual or group shot you want to have faith that one picture is going to be the best picture. The art of taking perfect pictures is a skill that we believe only models and celebs contain, but you are wrong! Taking a fabulous photograph is based on knowing your angles and having confidence. Let’s begin!

TongueToRoof

No matter how much you try to avoid it, everyone has a double chin. If you don’t believe me, then try sticking your chin to your neck in a mirror. In order to diminish that turkey neck stick your tongue on the roof of your mouth. This process collects all of the loose skin from your jawline. In may be odd when you first smile while doing it, but it’s useful. Models and celebrities all across the world use this trick.

The next tip is to always be aware of how you position your body. This picture is a prime example. Guess which girl in the picture is 20 years old and which one is 16 years old. Well Ariana Grande, right, is actually 20 and Kylie Jenner, left, is 16. You wouldn’t expect that due to Kylie’s mature stance. This is the proper pose for a woman. The slight angle embraces your curves and having one foot in front of the other makes it look more sophisticated. Keeping a straight back makes Kylie look longer.

Taking pictures in direct sunlight is one of the worst things you could do when taking a picture. It forces your eyes to squint and water. Your face will develop forehead wrinkles and awkward shadows that will make your face look wider. Makeup in direct sunlight doesn’t show through the best and it is just painful to pose in. Go for shaded areas that offer natural sunlight.

The next trick is having a tan, especially on your legs. Tanned legs shine better on the camera and make you look leaner. I actually haven’t gotten a spray tan since June so I feel you pale girls every where. I will most likely be getting a Mystic Tan for Fall. Using a self-tanner or spray tan is the best possible way than UV tanning because it is healthier.

Pictures taken at a down angle that snap your whole body from farther away flatters females the most. Taking pictures from an upward angle that are really close to your face can make your nose look 2x larger than it actually is. The downward angle elongates your legs and makes you look taller. This angle is truly for full-body shots though, for example a fashion photograph.

My Nightly Beauty Routine!

Usually, I do this same infamous routine every night. It consists of fully removing all makeup, prepping my skin, cleansing, and moisturization. Some nights I may add a natural face mask or a gentle teeth whitener. This process does not include my shower though. I like to fill my evenings with relaxing music and good products. Let’s begin!

To begin, I take off both my eye makeup and face makeup with Clean & Clear Facial Cleansing Wipes. They are oil-free and do a great job of fully removing all makeup. I don’t typically use liquid makeup remover unless I have a lot of eye makeup, for example liquid eyeliner. If I have lipstick, I will make sure to remove all of it fully so that it doesn’t stain my lips overnight.

For my face I use the Dermalogica Oil/Normal Skin Care Kit. It can be purchased at Ulta and Sephora and comes in various sets according to your skin type. Within the stores there are skin-matchers who test your skin for free to find the perfect kit for you. Within it comes a Special Cleansing Gel, Multi-Active Toner, Skin Prep Scrub, Active Moist, and Total Eye Care. First, I scrub the Skin Prep Scrub with clean hands all over my face to remove any excess dirt or makeup from the day. I wash it off with a warm wash cloth and use my facial brush the gently apply the Special Cleansing Gel. I use a Face Secrets facial brush that I got from Sally’s Beauty Supply for less than $3.00. I rinse that off with the same warm rag and spritz my face with the Multi-Active Toner. While that dries I brush my teeth and then apply the Active Moist moisturizer.

Next, I apply Vaseline on my lips and eyelashes, Massaging Vaseline helps my eyelashes to grow longer and thicker. Every other night I will apply a hair mask to my hair. Lately, I haven’t found the perfect hair mask so if you have any recommendations comment down below.

Before bed, I usually french braid my hair down. In the morning when I undo the braid I will have big voluminous curls that were heat-free. If I want to wear my hair straight tomorrow, I will straighten it in the evening so that I don’t have to waste time in the morning straightening it. This process saves me tons of time in the morning.

After all of these facial steps, I lay in bed and apply Organix Coconut Milk & Hibiscus lotion. This lotion smells like the Carribean with a gentle scent of coconuts. I also like the Organix lotion with Cherry Blossom and Rice Milk. I apply this to my arms, legs, feet, and hands. This product isn’t greasy and dries quickly. I prefer lotions that dry quickly because they don’t leave my hands slippery.

And after a long day, I like to unwind with Tazo Calm Tea and either a good book or some good TV. With my doggies by my side, I know it will be a relaxing night!

5 Ways to Makeover Your Look Without Spending a Dime

Whoever first coined the famous phrase “Beauty is pain,” was spot-on. Between trips to the hair salon, waxing appointments, and splurging on expensive skincare products, beauty is pain…painfully expensive! However, that doesn’t always have to be the case. It is great to have these foolproof tricks in your back pocket at all times in case you are tired of the same old routine. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing every day and expecting a better result. If you want to start something new, today is the day. Let’s begin!

Changing your hair part can shape the way your face seems. If you always sport a side swept ‘do, mix things up by parting your hair down the middle. Similarly, if you’re a center part kinda gal, go for a deep side part. You will be surprised how much it changes your facial features. And the best thing about it is that you can go back to your classic favorite in a matter of seconds. If you don’t know how to part your hair and match it to your correct facial shape, here will help you.

Wearing a bold lip or cat eye can really make you stand out. Daily, I usually just apply either liquid lined cat eye or pencil liner on my lash lines. I discovered this beauty look because I was not a huge fan of eyeshadow when crunched for time and I wanted to try something new. It instantly updated my look, and as you can see, I haven’t strayed from it since! Using a bold red, coral, or pink lip color can have the same effect. It adds a touch of glamour to your everyday beauty routine. If you don’t have liquid liner or a bright lipstick, you can always visit the beauty counters at your favorite department store and play around with a makeup artist until you find what suits you.

It’s crazy how many face masks you can make with items you use for cooking your meals everyday. Sounds crazy, I know. One of my favorite DIY masks is this Greek yogurt mask that calms acne and hydrates dry skin. Comment below if you would like a tutorial on that. I’ve also read that you can make a mask by mixing up ½ avocado and the juice from ½ of a lemon. So grab your leftovers and get to work for refreshed and moisturized skin!

Drugstore whitening strips are great for brightening up your pearly whites. But if you’re looking for a wallet-friendly option, try mixing baking soda and lemon juice into a paste, then brushing it onto your teeth with a toothbrush. Leave the mixture on for about a minute, then brush it off. According to Health.com, the baking soda will remove stains from your tooth enamel while the citric acid in the lemon juice will have a bleaching effect.

Many of the best beauty secrets I’ve ever heard have been simple tips that help you not only look your best but feel your best too. Case in point: perfect posture. When I make an effort to stand up straight during the day, I find myself with a perky attitude and a more carefree disposition. Slumping over will do just the opposite, leaving you feeling lethargic and jaded. Stand up straight, ladies!

Time Saving Makeup & Fashion Tricks!

You’re in a deep and luxurious sleep when, suddenly the radio is blasting. It’s time to wake up to get ready for work. Persistently, you just press the snooze for 5 more minutes of heaven. Which, unfortunately, turns into 30 minutes and next thing you know, you’re running late. We have all been there. Rushing into the bathroom while trying to put mascara on, zip up your pants, and eat some oatmeal before it’s time to sprint out the door. Thankfully, I have perfected these steps for all of you who aren’t early birds. This tutorial contains helpful tips and tricks to cut your getting ready time in half. Let’s begin!

To quickly get ready in the morning you must prepare at night. This means that taking a shower at night will take 15-25 minutes out of your schedule in the mornings. If you don’t want to wash your hair, then just pull a shower cap over your hair. In the morning, you can just wash your face and your body will still be clean.

Depending on how your hair dries, you might want to style it at night. My hair is naturally curly and I know I won’t have time to straighten it in the morning so I straighten it before bed. To ensure it stays straight all night, I use CHI Straight Guard after straightening. When I wake up in the morning it might have some waves, and that only takes 5 minutes thanks to my prepping. Putting your damp hair into a side braid before bed will give you beachy waves in the morning when you take the braid out.

In the morning, just wake up, wash your face, moisturize, then jump right into concealer. Skipping the foundation will alleviate about 5 minutes. If you don’t want to blend the concealer, then just apply a BB cream to your whole face. Apply a pressed powder for more coverage over the concealer or BB cream. Using an angled brush when applying a light pink blush or light bronzer will make the application quicker. Just swipe across the cheekbones and move onto the eyes. Using a liquid liner, sweep it across the lash line and make an even wing. Instead of dealing with all of the mascara, just curling the eyelashes will give it a voluminous look and only take 15 seconds. For the lips, use a tinted lip balm or a deep pink lip stain is the best. Putting color on the lips and the winged liner makes it look like you spent a lot of time on your makeup.

Pencil skirt

For a quick go-to outfit, I usually grab colored pants, neutral sandals, and a cotton top. Grab a bubble necklace , a few rings, and sprint to the kitchen. For a more work formal look, I throw on a long pencil skirt with a layered top and black pumps. Thank you to Fashiony.ru for the gorgeous example above.

Breakfast in the most important meal of the day because it gets those brain juices flowing. For a grab on the go, I usually pick a granola or protein bar and a refrigerated Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino. This whole process takes about 20-30 minutes or less.

How To Walk In High Heels Like a Pro

As crazy as this seems, many women still haven’t mastered the art of walking in heels. Hundreds of style-hungry ladies skip the heels section each day because of a fear of the unknown. You won’t necessarily be walking on 5 inch heels by tomorrow, but these steps can help you feel like you aren’t walking on stilts every time. Being a person who was weary of heels in the beginning I know how you feel, but today I wear heels 2-3 times per week for about 7-8 hours per day. Let’s begin!

I’ve been wearing heels since I was a teenager so my feet have been thoroughly trained to be in heels. If you are just starting out, don’t immediately go for the stilletos.  Get some heels between 2-3 inches and preferably with a bit of a thicker heel and wear them around the house. Wear them when you are cooking, wear them when you are doing your makeup, when you are vacuuming, walk up and down the stairs, etc…  You don’t need to even get dressed up, just walk around and wear them in your sweats, nobody will see you but if you wear them during normal activities without leaving the house, you will get a lot more used to them and not feel foolish because nobody will see you practicing.  I do this when I’m breaking my shoes in and it helps a lot in that aspect as well. Practice truly makes perfect and the more you break in the heels the more comfortable they will be.

Nothing looks worse than a girl who’s wearing shoes that are too big or too small and you can see them visibly struggling to walk in them.  I wear different sizes with different brands and even within the same designer I can go up or down a half size so make sure that you are wearing the size that fits your foot and not just the size that you “usually” wear. To help with sizing you can also get insoles. When you are buying shoes, walk around the shoe department in them and make sure that your heel doesn’t pop out or it’s not squeezing your toes or the sides of your feet. Don’t think that shoes will stretch because most of the time they won’t stretch enough and they’ll still be too tight to wear.

Walking slow is much better than trying to keep your normal pace and then falling on your face.  Don’t feel silly for walking slow or taking small steps.  I mean don’t walk abnormally slow (if you do, you may need more practice) but look around you, there’s always a ton of people walking slow and you probably don’t stare at them weird or anything do you?  So ignore your own self conscious feeling of “dang people are probably staring at me because I’m so slow” and just take your time walking.  If you have to go up or down stairs, always hold on to the handrail or your significant other to keep steady.  It sounds silly but I’ve seen people take tumbles because they didn’t have anything to hold onto but if you are wearing heels, you have a higher chance of slipping or getting your footing wrong when going down stairs.

When I know I’ll be walking a lot, I always carry a bigger handbag and put a pair of flats in there. Then when I’ve been on my feet for a couple of hours and I need to give them a rest, I’ll just slip on my flats, put my heels in the shoe bag and my feet are back to being comfy! There are even flats out there like these Dr. Scholl’s Fast Flats that are foldable flats and are really compact to keep in your handbag.

Tips:

If a stiff shoe causes blisters, spritz the body with water and use your fingers to mold the softened leather to the shape of your foot or try special inserts to reduce friction.

The inner arch of the heel, or the breast,  affects stability. The farther forward the arch, the less you will feel off-balance.

Slipping on slick floors? Pick up a pair of sole protectors or score the soles of your heels with a key to create extra traction.

If your toes feel pinched, have the toe box stretched out at your local shoe repair shop.

If you suffer from low arches, slip in supports to relieve pressure on the balls of your feet.

My Morning Routine!

As the morning sun slowly gleams itself through my window every morning, I most likely roll over on my other side to catch more z’s. My morning routine is very simple, yet worthy enough to be completed most mornings. This routine is just the steps and reviews of the products that I use. Let’s begin!

When I wake up in the morning, I like to wash my face to help awaken my senses. I prefer using this Clean & Clear Fruit Infusions because it smells amazing and it is a light cleanser that doesn’t dry my skin out throughout the day, but does control the oil production. It has strawberry seeds in it so it is kind of like a scrub, yet I wouldn’t recommend it to be an exfoliant. In the past I would use cleansers full of acne fighting chemicals, and my skin just produced more oils through the day since it was ripped free in the morning. Once I switched to this as my morning cleanser my skin feels better. Afterwards I mosturize with my Dermalogica Normal/Oily Active Moist and then brush my teeth using Crest Whiting toothpaste.

For my breakfast, I like to start out healthy. Many people say that skipping breakfast will help them lose weight, but I have to kill this myth. Eating breakfast is probably one of the best things for your body. The glucose and energy fill your body and turn your metabolism on so you can start burning fat naturally. I mix Quaker Oats with either blueberries, cut up apple, etc. and microwave them. Fun Fact: If you mix oatmeal with household ingredients, you get a natural facial softener that helps clear up red spots and get softer skin. Comment below if you would like a DIY on this.

Depending on what the day entails, I like to keep it simple for my makeup. I apply Revlon Colorstay Foundation with a pressed powder to my face. Accompanied with Benefit’s They’re Real mascara and a little bit of Covergirl Pencil Liner. This mascara is new to my collection and a bit pricey. So far it has been well worth the money though. If I am feeling peachy, I will take an angled brush and apply a light blush to my cheek bones. Spray a little setting spray and my makeup is done for the day. For the lips, I usually just apply either a colored lip stain or a moisturizing lip balm.

Usually I wash my hair at night and braid it into either a french braid or side braid. In the morning it will have lovely waves. I simply spray Not Your Mother’s Sea Salt Spray to enhance the curls. This spray smells amazing and adds an enhancement to my waves. If I didn’t braid it the night before, I will most likely just put it in a top knot.

My go-to outfit consists of colored or patterned pants or jeans, arm candy, sandals or flats, and a simple blouse. The colored or patterned pants bring a pop of color, as opposed to regular jeans. On more dressier days, I will probably pair a skater skirt with colored pumps and a chiffon blouse.

Beauty Travel Guide 101

Finally! An extended period of time where you don’t have to worry about what meeting to go to, what day it is, and whose calling my phone. Yes, traveling can be thrilling, but if you didn’t pack accordingly it could get frustrating. To go on a relaxing vacation, you simply don’t need 5 suitcases just for makeup. You’ve finally picked your perfect destination (sunny beaches, snowy mountains, lakeside resort, etc.) and have your tickets ready to go. But you just need to do one important thing – pack! How will you fit all of your clothes, shoes, and toiletries without being forced to pay excess baggage fees? Especially for you fashionistas who try to pack your whole closet. My tips and tricks will ensure that your luggage won’t be the burden on your trip Let’s begin!

First, lay out only the clothes that you need. Packing 3 pairs of shorts, 1 pants or jeans, 2 dressses, 4 shirts, a belt, heels, undergarments, and sneakers are the perfect outline. If you are going to the beach, don’t bring Louboutins. Try to be sensible. Whenever I go on vacation in the summer, I always bring rubber flip-flops. These are waterproof, sturdy, and work great as shower sandals. Make sure the shoes are already broken-in that you do bring because blisters aren’t fun. This picture shows packing for my friend’s wedding months ago. This amount of clothing lasted a little over 2 weeks. Yes, I did wash my clothes, but didn’t need a different pair of shorts each day. Plan to bring mix-and-match outfits and bathing suits.  On my most recent vacation, I only brought 2 dresses; one for the club, one sundress. All of these clothes can fit in a medium-small suitcase and can fit as a carry-on. The perfect amount for traveling.

For toiletries, only bring the items you need. Tagging along the family size bottle of lotion you haven’t use in years isn’t the best. Opt for travel size items, especially for flights. I went on a flight years ago and I didn’t really know of the 6 oz liquids rule. And all of my toiletries got thrown in the garbage for being over 6 oz. Putting your toiletries in clear traveling bags are flight securities best friend. It let’s them go through it easily and quicker. They can be found at Ulta or your local drug store. For makeup, palettes are your best friend. I usually accompany the Naked palette with my usual foundation, loose powder, peach blush, and a lipstick palette. Using palettes creates less makeup clutter.  Bring the stuff you can’t go a day without, not a year without.

And that’s it! You are now ready to board that plane, bus, train, ship, or car and soak in your fabulous get-away. I posted some of my vacation photos for your reading enjoyment. As you can tell, many of my friends are photography majors. Comment below your dream vacations!

How To Have Perfect Pink Lips!

You can enhance your beauty with a lovely smile. When your lips are pink, your smile also becomes charming. But there are many people who do not have pink lips and color of their lips have become dark and pale which are not appealing at all. Pink lips are also a sign of youthfulness, rather than pale, unfriendly lips. There are many reasons behind dark lips, such as hectic lifestyle, ignorance towards health, change in weather, some kind of illness, chewing tobacco, chemotherapy, excessive use of fluoride, excessive smoking, regular use of low quality cosmetics, not removing lipsticks from your lips at night, less blood circulation in the lips, too much stress, exposing lips to direct sun rays, humid temperature and so on. Nevertheless, these lips can be transformed into soft, inviting pink lips with a few steps. Let’s begin!

The first step is to avoid direct contact of dark liquids to your lips. That includes coffee, dark tea, red wine, and certain juices. Instead of never drinking these again, simply use a straw. This may sound silly drinking coffee or wine from a straw, but there are also certain cups with small holes that won’t stain the lips. Not only do these affect your lips, but also they stain your teeth.

The next step is very important: exfoliation! Exfoliating your lips once a week will get rid of the built-up dead skin cells and make them softer and brighter. This can be done by taking a toothbrush and gently scrubbing in circles on your top and bottom lips. Be careful not to scrub so hard that your skin starts to bleed. If you don’t want to do this, then mixing either honey or extra virgin olive oil with sugar will work just the same. Mix small and proportional amounts of honey or extra virgin olive oil with sugar and scrub this across lips with your finger. You can either lick the remaining mixture off or with a wipe. Apply a soothing lip balm to the lips for moisturization after exfoliating.  Both of these processes will help get the blood circulation back and bring the natural color in.

This step is probably one of the easiest and most practical. Staying hydrated not only helps your skin, hair, and overall health, but also the color of your lips. Each day you should drink at least half of your body weight in fluid oz. For example, if you weight 120 lbs then you should be drinking about 60 fl oz. If water isn’t your favorite, then adding a drink enhancer, like Crystal Lite, can get you the same low calorie hydration but with more flavor. Adding fresh lemon juice to water can also help speed up the metabolism.

The final step is to make sure when you apply deep lip products, you fully remove all of the product. This includes lipsticks, lip-stains, and thick lip glosses. The chemicals within these products can permanently stain your lips and demolish their natural luster. To fully remove these products, sweep a makeup wipe across your lips until you see nothing coming off onto the wipe.

Following these simple steps can ensure that your lips stay plump, pink, and perfect!

How To Grow Luscious, Healthy Eyelashes

After years of continuously gluing fake lashes and applying countless strokes of mascara, eyelashes look quite dull. The limp fibers seem to be of no use at their natural state. These days, not many people even wear their own lashes in the public eye. I was one of those gals who would spend the extra time in the morning just to get the perfect line of glue on my upper lash line. Being a frequent user of eyelash growth serums, I feel everyone’s pain. Back in my cheerleading days, I was one of the ladies who would catch the girls being thrown in the air, known as a base. One day, as she was coming down her foot flew back, striking me in the eye. When I finally was able to open my eye I felt soft little hairs all over my face. Those little hairs were no other than my top row of right eyelashes. I searched high and low for a remedy that would regrow them as fast as possible. It almost sounds too good to be true: Swipe an applicator over your eyelids and you’ll grow enviably thick, longer eyelashes. That’s what eyelash growth enhancers – both over-the-counter and prescription – claim to do. And if you’ve lost your lashes, growing new ones isn’t just for cosmetic appeal. Using serum after serum, until eventually I found a cure right in front of my face. This remedy is quick, easy, and extremely affordable. Let’s begin!

To begin this process, you will only need one item: petroleum jelly. This product can be found in local drug stores or even some grocery stores. I bought Vaseline Petroleum Jelly for only $2.99 at my local drug store. I recommend doing this process right before you go to bed because you need all of your makeup from the day to be removed from your face. It also helps to have a clean canvas to work on, so washing your face is recommended.

First, take a finger size of jelly and rub it between your fingers. This will heat up the petroleum jelly making it moisturize a lot better. Close one eye and gently rub this along your top lash line. Avoid any contact with the inside of your eye. If you do make contact with the jelly and your eye, wash eye out immediately and read label for further precautions. Continue rubbing and massage the jelly on your eyelashes as if you were applying mascara with your fingers. Proceed and apply to the lower lash line as well.

If you have a desire to enlarge your eyebrows, then you can also apply this to the needed areas. This will lubricate the hair follicles and help produce growth. Every person has a different rate of hair growth, but this treatment has a high guarantee of working. Petroleum jelly is a very moisturizing product and is used all over the world. It is used as a base product of many lotions and skin treatments. Your eyeballs and eyebrows may seem greasy now, but in the morning they will be soft and supple. Within a few weeks results should be noticeable.

Petroleum jelly can also be used to lubricate chapped hands, lips, and soften the finger cuticles. It reduces the amount of moisture loss and is a very inexpensive, efficient purchase. Petroleum jelly is truly an item to have in your pantry. Who doesn’t want long lashes and soft skin?
