Product Battles: NARS Blush vs. NYX Blush!

NARS Orgasm is one of the company’s best selling blush. So successful that NARS created a line based off of Orgasm. Blush should be applied to the apples of the cheeks with either an angled brush or a thick powder brush. Soon after Orgasm, NYX released Pinched which is nearly the same color, but a fraction of the price. This will find out which blush is worth the money. Let’s begin!

NYX Pinched is a gorgeous pink color with light flecks of shimmer. It is sold in a medium size container and costs $5.00. To get this color I didn’t have to apply much to my finger. The color is a light pink and the shimmer isn’t too noticeable on the skin. I went to my local drugstore to buy this product and was applied with an angled blush brush.

The NARS blush in Orgasm has shimmery pink tone. It is very similar, if not exactly the same to the NYX Pinched blush. This blush is $29.00 and a bit larger than the NYX blush. This casing comes with a mirror and is a compact case. NARS came out on my skin having more shimmer than the NYX. The blush also didn’t seem as pink, but if built-up would have a more pink color. To buy this product  you would have to drive to the mall or your local Sephora. I already had it so I didn’t have to drive there this time.

The winning product is… NYX Pinched! The color was more potent, not overwhelmed with shimmer, and beyond cheaper. Paying $29.00 for blush isn’t really worth it to me when there is a dupe for $5.00 that is even better. NYX Pinched can be purchased at your local drugstore and is well worth it!

Product Battles: Physicians Formula Nude vs. Naked Palette!

Recently, Physicians Formula came out with 2 new palettes named Shimmer Strips. One is Classic Nude and the other is Smokey Nude. They both correspond near perfectly with the Naked palettes. Thus, concluding that a product battle is a must between the Naked palette and the Classic Nude palette. Let’s begin!

First off is the Classic Nude palette from Physicians Formula. All of the colors are shimmery, hence the name Shimmer Strips, but they aren’t glittery. It comes in this adorable little casing and has a magnetic flip that keeps everything closed. Inside it comes with a sponge-like brush which can’t really be used much. The colors are small strips of 9. On the back of the packaging it has tips to enhance your smokey eye and how to use the sponge applicator. This product runs for about $10.99 at most drug stores. The main problem I had with this product is that without primer all of  the colors have the same shimmery pigmentation. The picture of the swatches I did are all with primer and a lot of product. The fall-out is minimal.

In comparison is the original Naked palette. With its 12 pigmented shades, this bad boy runs for about $52.00. Most of colors are shimmery, but there are a few matte colors in this palette. It comes with eye primer and other than the cost I really love this palette. I think it’s universal and can be worn daily. The price is a banger, though. To spend $52.00 on some eye shadows! This palette looks fine without primer and amazing with primer. The fall-out is minimal.

And the winner is….. The Naked palette! I chose this palette because I felt like it was worth the money. Typically, I weigh cost more than anything in these battles because I love my under $15 makeup, but the rewards outweighed the cost. Naked offers matte and shimmer and the products that come with it have the ability to be used for more things. Everyone needs a little luxury makeup, and this product battle luxury wins over cheap.

My Nightly Beauty Routine!

Usually, I do this same infamous routine every night. It consists of fully removing all makeup, prepping my skin, cleansing, and moisturization. Some nights I may add a natural face mask or a gentle teeth whitener. This process does not include my shower though. I like to fill my evenings with relaxing music and good products. Let’s begin!

To begin, I take off both my eye makeup and face makeup with Clean & Clear Facial Cleansing Wipes. They are oil-free and do a great job of fully removing all makeup. I don’t typically use liquid makeup remover unless I have a lot of eye makeup, for example liquid eyeliner. If I have lipstick, I will make sure to remove all of it fully so that it doesn’t stain my lips overnight.

For my face I use the Dermalogica Oil/Normal Skin Care Kit. It can be purchased at Ulta and Sephora and comes in various sets according to your skin type. Within the stores there are skin-matchers who test your skin for free to find the perfect kit for you. Within it comes a Special Cleansing Gel, Multi-Active Toner, Skin Prep Scrub, Active Moist, and Total Eye Care. First, I scrub the Skin Prep Scrub with clean hands all over my face to remove any excess dirt or makeup from the day. I wash it off with a warm wash cloth and use my facial brush the gently apply the Special Cleansing Gel. I use a Face Secrets facial brush that I got from Sally’s Beauty Supply for less than $3.00. I rinse that off with the same warm rag and spritz my face with the Multi-Active Toner. While that dries I brush my teeth and then apply the Active Moist moisturizer.

Next, I apply Vaseline on my lips and eyelashes, Massaging Vaseline helps my eyelashes to grow longer and thicker. Every other night I will apply a hair mask to my hair. Lately, I haven’t found the perfect hair mask so if you have any recommendations comment down below.

Before bed, I usually french braid my hair down. In the morning when I undo the braid I will have big voluminous curls that were heat-free. If I want to wear my hair straight tomorrow, I will straighten it in the evening so that I don’t have to waste time in the morning straightening it. This process saves me tons of time in the morning.

After all of these facial steps, I lay in bed and apply Organix Coconut Milk & Hibiscus lotion. This lotion smells like the Carribean with a gentle scent of coconuts. I also like the Organix lotion with Cherry Blossom and Rice Milk. I apply this to my arms, legs, feet, and hands. This product isn’t greasy and dries quickly. I prefer lotions that dry quickly because they don’t leave my hands slippery.

And after a long day, I like to unwind with Tazo Calm Tea and either a good book or some good TV. With my doggies by my side, I know it will be a relaxing night!

Waterproof Makeup Tutorial!

Unfortunately, not all makeup can withstand the earth’s elements. We have all been there where you come out of the pool and mascara or that smokey eye is just oozing down your face. Thankfully, I have found this full face makeup look that can defend itself against water and sweat. This isn’t the best every day makeup, unless you come into contact daily with water. Let’s begin!

For a full-coverage foundation, I would recommend the Makeup For Ever Full Cover foundation. You could apply a primer under this foundation, but it is so waterproof it isn’t completely necessary. It can be a little pricey, but it has true full coverage and the lady at Sephora said this is the only absolute waterproof foundation. Apply this with a foundation brush and use Covergirl Clay concealer to cover up any redness and under-eyes. Using a clay concealer is a lot thicker than a liquid and will cling to your face better. If you don’t want a heavy foundation, then apply Physicians Formula BB cream for moderate coverage.

On the eyelids, I apply Maybelline Color Tattoo in the color Tough as Taupe. This cream eyeshadow is waterproof and is a shimmery gold that reflects the sun with your eyes making them looks brighter. If you prefer a more smokey look, go for the Revlon cream eye shadow palettes. They come with four sets of shadows and come in hundreds of color sets. For a pop of summery color, using a angled liner brush apply Tenacious Teal to the under eyelids. If you wanted a black winged liner instead, a gel liner swiped with an angled liner brush will do the trick.

The Colossal mascara by Maybelline is an amazing waterproof mascara. This mascara won’t come off for anything. Curl the lashes then apply even coats. Tip: Don’t apply mascara to bottom lashes because it could increase the risk of bottom lash line makeup dripping off in the water.

For blush, I sweep Dream Bouncy blush across my cheekbones for a natural flushed look. Dragging the blush up into the temples will give more structure to the face. Applying a light pink or coral lip stain is best because it won’t come off. And that’s it! You are now ready to jump into the ocean and ensure that your face will stay on all day.
