Products I Regret Buying In Summer!

a sweet summertime 5 Summer what a great season (27)

Technically, Fall isn’t for 19 more days, but in my household the autumn candles are burning and Starbucks is featuring their Pumpkin Spice Latte. Thus, it is Fall in my mind. Summer literally flew by! Whether it was spent by the beach or with friends, every day of Summer was an adventure. The worst part of Summer, though, was when I would be so excited for a product I just bought and it fails to prove me right. Leading to this list of products that I just collect dust in the back of my cabinets. Let’s begin!

The first product are these Cuinong lashes. I liked the style and have used ones like these before, but when I wore them they would irritate my eyes. I was so scared I was going to get pink eye or a really bad infection. I ended up throwing them away, but saved the picture I sent to a friend the day I bought them. Both packs together only cost $10.00. A big thumbs down to these lashes!

Next product is the Rimmel Lash Accelerator Serum. You are supposed to put this on when you go to sleep at night and it will promote lash growth. I wore this for a few months and it literally did nothing. I get 10x better results from using Vaseline than this stuff. I also don’t like the packaging because if I were in a hurry I could easily just grab this and mistake it for a lip gloss. One tube of this Accelerator costs $8.99.

The Topshop Cream Blush in ‘Neon Rose’ is a product I also regret mainly because of the color. I bought this after hearing lots about it on YouTube, and after seeing it in person I was sold. It’s an amazingly vibrant coral color that looks so promising in the pan, but sadly it just does not suit my skin tone at all. No matter how little I apply it still manages to look really artificial and doll-like instead of being the natural flush of color that I usually go for. It costs $9.00.

The final makeup product is the Scandal Eyes Show-Off Mascara. I really dislike everything about this mascara. The brush shape doesn’t help anything and actually promotes getting mascara all over your face due to that little ball-like shape on the end. It’s really difficult to get off at night, even the one that isn’t waterproof. The formula is kinda flaky, but what really turned me off is that it started to smell weird after a while. I only had it for less than a month and it started to smell really gross. This one tube costs $7.89.

The Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion is one that I am kind of on the fence about. It has decent moisturization ability, but if you have like a small wound, for instance a paper cut, then it burns. I would put this on my legs after I shaved and if I had a small slice from the razor or even razor burn, it would sting. I was confused when it did this because it claims to be all natural and have no harsh chemicals, yet burned my skin like it was composed of harsh chemicals. Maybe it was just me. This regular size bottle costs $10.90.

On to the hair products! During the summer I don’t really do my hair that much because I am trying to retain its moisture. This product is the Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo and is probably one of the worst dry shampoos ever. I spray it on second-third day hair and it makes my hair even stickier and greasier. It makes my hair feel like I just took 12 gallons of hairspray and sprayed it all over my roots. It costs $5.99 and will certainly not be repurchased.

TIGI Rockaholic Leave-In Detangler & Defrizzer is the final product and is another one that I didn’t really like, but used up. I would love this product, but the smell made me hate it! This has the worst smell ever, not sure what I can compare it to. When I just spray it on my hair I feel like re-washing it. It’s a nice detangler, but I wouldn’t say it’s a great defrizzer. This bottle costs $14.99.

The Most Flattering Hair Part For Your Face Shape!

One of the easiest ways to change your look is switching how you part your hair. While many of us find a natural part and stick with it for years, have you ever wondered if that style is really the most flattering for your face-shape? Experimenting with a fresh comb-created angle will give you a chance to find the ideal balance to highlight your features. But the best part? It’s an instantly gratifying transformation. Let’s begin!

Heart-shaped faces tend to be wider in the cheeks. A middle part complements this shape, but only if you have long hair. If you have short hair or too many layers around the face, it can have the reverse effect.  That’s because the cropped fringe will bring the focus to the wider area of your face. A side part will also work by allowing hair to covering the larger forehead and cheek area and make the face look thinner.

For circle shaped faces, use a deep side part to showcase your strongest side. Don’t know which side is your best? Use a blank piece of paper to cover half of you face while looking in a mirror. Then switch sides. Whichever half you prefer the most wins! Round faces need a curtain of hair to lengthen the shape and balance the features.

Square faces should enhance a deep side part that will soften the forehead and jaw line.  The long layers create a rounded oval by falling diagonally across the face and hiding harsher angles. The ideal place to start your deep part is directly above the arch in your eyebrows.

People with oval faces have it the easiest! They can pull off any part, any side, any way, on any style.  So why not try them all? Experiment with sides and angles for a mini makeover each day! Or try creating a youthful zigzag part.

Time Saving Makeup & Fashion Tricks!

You’re in a deep and luxurious sleep when, suddenly the radio is blasting. It’s time to wake up to get ready for work. Persistently, you just press the snooze for 5 more minutes of heaven. Which, unfortunately, turns into 30 minutes and next thing you know, you’re running late. We have all been there. Rushing into the bathroom while trying to put mascara on, zip up your pants, and eat some oatmeal before it’s time to sprint out the door. Thankfully, I have perfected these steps for all of you who aren’t early birds. This tutorial contains helpful tips and tricks to cut your getting ready time in half. Let’s begin!

To quickly get ready in the morning you must prepare at night. This means that taking a shower at night will take 15-25 minutes out of your schedule in the mornings. If you don’t want to wash your hair, then just pull a shower cap over your hair. In the morning, you can just wash your face and your body will still be clean.

Depending on how your hair dries, you might want to style it at night. My hair is naturally curly and I know I won’t have time to straighten it in the morning so I straighten it before bed. To ensure it stays straight all night, I use CHI Straight Guard after straightening. When I wake up in the morning it might have some waves, and that only takes 5 minutes thanks to my prepping. Putting your damp hair into a side braid before bed will give you beachy waves in the morning when you take the braid out.

In the morning, just wake up, wash your face, moisturize, then jump right into concealer. Skipping the foundation will alleviate about 5 minutes. If you don’t want to blend the concealer, then just apply a BB cream to your whole face. Apply a pressed powder for more coverage over the concealer or BB cream. Using an angled brush when applying a light pink blush or light bronzer will make the application quicker. Just swipe across the cheekbones and move onto the eyes. Using a liquid liner, sweep it across the lash line and make an even wing. Instead of dealing with all of the mascara, just curling the eyelashes will give it a voluminous look and only take 15 seconds. For the lips, use a tinted lip balm or a deep pink lip stain is the best. Putting color on the lips and the winged liner makes it look like you spent a lot of time on your makeup.

Pencil skirt

For a quick go-to outfit, I usually grab colored pants, neutral sandals, and a cotton top. Grab a bubble necklace , a few rings, and sprint to the kitchen. For a more work formal look, I throw on a long pencil skirt with a layered top and black pumps. Thank you to Fashiony.ru for the gorgeous example above.

Breakfast in the most important meal of the day because it gets those brain juices flowing. For a grab on the go, I usually pick a granola or protein bar and a refrigerated Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino. This whole process takes about 20-30 minutes or less.
