Best Drugstore Makeup Products!

I have spent years scouring through the local drugstores to find the best products for daily usage. All of these products listed have withstood my scientific studies and have been voted my favorite drugstore products. When all else fails, these are the products to turn to. This list could go on and on, but I felt that these products were the most noteworthy.  Let’s begin!

First is this Maybelline Fit Me concealer. Typically, when you go to the drugstore they only have like 3-5 concealer shades that range from really light to a deep dark color. The Fit Me collection has tons of different colors that are designed to match any skin tone. Even though this concealer is a liquid, it builds very easily and doesn’t leak into any fine lines. This product is also great for covering under-eye circles. Simply stroke the brush in downward lines and blend with a small brush.

My favorite  foundation is, of course, the Revlon ColorStay foundation. This foundation is a full-coverage foundation with a matte finish. It comes in different formulas for different skin types. I use this foundation everyday and if it were ever to be discontinued I honestly don’t know what else I would wear. If you prefer a more dewy finish rather than the matte, Neutrogena Healthy Skin has a nice formula that is light and glowy.

The best blush is the Milani Blush collections. They come in either shimmer or matte. The shimmer blushes are supposed to be a highlight and blush combo, while the matte is just regular matte. Milani blushes have often been compared to Benefit blushes because the pigmentation and quality is so high. The packaging also makes them look very luxurious in your makeup container! I also really enjoy NYX blushes.

Rimmel London Natural Bronzer is one of my all-time favorite bronzers. This bronzer comes in a few colors, but all look great no matter the skin tone. Although this bronzer does have a light shimmer, the pigmentation out-weighs the shimmer. I blend this on my face with a fluffy brush and then apply my blush. This bronzer has a natural look so if you accidentally put too much on you won’t look dirty. I also really love the Covergirl bronzer that I found in the Ulta clearance.

When it came to eyeshadows, I was at a draw. My two favorite eyeshadow palette are the E.l.f. Essential Beauty School Eyeshadow Compact in Neutral and the Wet n’ Wild 8 Eyeshadow Palettes. Both come in a variation of colors. I really like this E.l.f. one because it has a combination of shimmer, sparkly, and matte colors. And the Wet n’ Wild one is a favorite because the color pay-off is amazing and if you are new to makeup, each color is labeled where to place it.

My favorite lipsticks are the Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks. They come in these gorgeous plastic packaging and have been compared to high-end lipsticks all the time. The texture is creamy and the colors work well with all skin tones. These shades aren’t completely matte, but aren’t super glossy. My favorite lip-stain would have to be Revlon Just Bitten.

My Morning Routine!

As the morning sun slowly gleams itself through my window every morning, I most likely roll over on my other side to catch more z’s. My morning routine is very simple, yet worthy enough to be completed most mornings. This routine is just the steps and reviews of the products that I use. Let’s begin!

When I wake up in the morning, I like to wash my face to help awaken my senses. I prefer using this Clean & Clear Fruit Infusions because it smells amazing and it is a light cleanser that doesn’t dry my skin out throughout the day, but does control the oil production. It has strawberry seeds in it so it is kind of like a scrub, yet I wouldn’t recommend it to be an exfoliant. In the past I would use cleansers full of acne fighting chemicals, and my skin just produced more oils through the day since it was ripped free in the morning. Once I switched to this as my morning cleanser my skin feels better. Afterwards I mosturize with my Dermalogica Normal/Oily Active Moist and then brush my teeth using Crest Whiting toothpaste.

For my breakfast, I like to start out healthy. Many people say that skipping breakfast will help them lose weight, but I have to kill this myth. Eating breakfast is probably one of the best things for your body. The glucose and energy fill your body and turn your metabolism on so you can start burning fat naturally. I mix Quaker Oats with either blueberries, cut up apple, etc. and microwave them. Fun Fact: If you mix oatmeal with household ingredients, you get a natural facial softener that helps clear up red spots and get softer skin. Comment below if you would like a DIY on this.

Depending on what the day entails, I like to keep it simple for my makeup. I apply Revlon Colorstay Foundation with a pressed powder to my face. Accompanied with Benefit’s They’re Real mascara and a little bit of Covergirl Pencil Liner. This mascara is new to my collection and a bit pricey. So far it has been well worth the money though. If I am feeling peachy, I will take an angled brush and apply a light blush to my cheek bones. Spray a little setting spray and my makeup is done for the day. For the lips, I usually just apply either a colored lip stain or a moisturizing lip balm.

Usually I wash my hair at night and braid it into either a french braid or side braid. In the morning it will have lovely waves. I simply spray Not Your Mother’s Sea Salt Spray to enhance the curls. This spray smells amazing and adds an enhancement to my waves. If I didn’t braid it the night before, I will most likely just put it in a top knot.

My go-to outfit consists of colored or patterned pants or jeans, arm candy, sandals or flats, and a simple blouse. The colored or patterned pants bring a pop of color, as opposed to regular jeans. On more dressier days, I will probably pair a skater skirt with colored pumps and a chiffon blouse.

Celebrity Inspired Makeup~ Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez’s song “Come and Get It” is at the top of the charts and Selena looks absolutely gorgeous in her video. This fast-beat song pairs well with the sultry eye and red lips that Selena wears throughout the video. Someone actually requested that I do a celebrity inspired makeup tutorial, so if you have any preferences be sure to comment your desire below. This will explain her eye, face, and lips. Let’s begin!

To begin with the face, prime your whole face with Mac Prep + Prime. Using a foundation brush, blend Revlon Colorstay Foundation all over for an even tone. Apply concealer to under-eye areas and any red spots or blemishes. Brush a translucent Covergirl Loose Powder evenly across your face. This process will ensure that you will have the even and flawless look of Selena’s. Sweep Hot Mama by The Balm across the cheekbones with an angled blush brush. As you can see above, she doesn’t have a pinkish cheek, so apply Solar Riche by MAC into the blush and Gentle by MAC for the highlight. This will give a warm, earthy cheek tone. I filled in my brows to be thicker like Selena’s with the Brow Bar.

Now on to the eyes! Apply Urban Decay Eyeshadow Potion to my eyelids to prime them. Brush Copper Craze by Maybelline into the corners of the eyes and onto the middle of the lid. Now apply Half Baked from the Naked Palette into the inner corner of the eye. If you want to wet your brush while you apply this gold it will make it stand out more. With a smaller brush, sweep dark horse from the Naked Palette into the crease and blend it out. Taking an angled brush, slowly blend Black out into the deepest part of the crease. Use any light shadow and highlight the brow bone and clean up any stray eye shadow. Using a thick black pencil, line the water line and smudge it out onto the lower lash line. I prefer using Smolder by MAC, but any thick pencil will do. Apply a gel eye liner onto the upper lash line, and don’t wing it out. My false lashes are 105 by Ardel and I used Falsies mascara over them afterwards and onto my bottom lashes.

Finally, lips! I am using Ruby Woo by MAC. This lipstick is very matte, so I suggest exfoliating previously and wearing lip balm before applying. If you do make a mistake, then you can go over that with a concealer brush. And that’s it! I will try and do celebrity inspired looks in the future.

G.N.O + Clubbing Makeup!

G.N.O, known as Girls Night Out, is what many women desire for at the beginning of each week. It’s that one night of freedom where you can just let your hair down with all your closest friends. Most ladies enjoy anything from a lovely dinner with a side of late-night karaoke to the pulsing clubs. Whichever you love, this tutorial will have 3 looks. From a hardcore clubbing look, to a gentle movie night look. Each one will have a different tweak, but use similar products. Let’s begin!

The first look will be a dramatic clubbing look.  I wouldn’t recommend wearing this to a simple dinner because it is very climatic look. To start, I will apply a good primer. This primer needs to be able to truly keep the foundation together because the club will be hot and you don’t want your face melting off. I am apply Mac Prep + Prime to my face and Urban Decay Eyeshadow Potion to my eyelids. Next, I will take my Revlon Colorstay Foundation and apply it with either a foundation brush or a makeup wedge. Sometimes I like to use a makeup wedge to apply because the brush can shelter bacteria, but it does blend better. I usually let my foundation dry on my face before applying Revlon PhotoReady Concealer. This gets blended in my under-eye area and on any red spots. Now time for the eyes! I apply Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow on  my lid. I know, so much Revlon! Only apply this on the lid, not in the crease. The NYX Single Eyeshadow in Black should be blended into the crease and sweep down into the inner eye area. With a liner brush, apply the same black shadow to the lower lid line. Use a thick black liner pencil to thicken the lower lash line. Applying eyelashes with this look would be kind of pointless because the eye makeup is so dark, so instead I just use Maybelline Volum’ Express mascara. To brighten up the face, sweep Physicians Formula Mood Boosting blush with an angled blush brush. Since the makeup is so harsh, a nude lipstick would compliment the best. I applied NYX Black Label Lipstick in Nude on my lips. Spritz Mac Setting Spray all over your face to ensure everything doesn’t drip off mid-dance.

For the second look, I decided to go with a less dramatic look. This look could still be worn to the club, but isn’t as drastic. For the face, I would recommend doing the same process above. It will guarantee that everything stays in place and doesn’t glide or slide off your lids or face. I next use the Lorac Pro Palette and use the shimmery white color with a small shadow brush to highlight the inner corners of the eyes. If you don’t have this palette then you can just use any white shimmery color. Using the L’Oreal Paris Extra Intense Eyeliner make a wing that extends into the crease. Take a blending eye shadow brush and blend it inward toward the eye and deeper into the crease. Using Milani Eyeshadow in Tickled Pink, gently pat this on the lid. This color is so subtle that the pink doesn’t stand out, but is noticeable. I wore  fake lashes for this look because it is a lighter look so the longer lashes help emphasize the sassiness. Maybelline Vivids Lipstick in Fuchsia Flash will be swiped across my lips and since the lips are so pink I would recommend applying a bronzer rather than a blush.

The final look is the least dramatic of all. This makeup look could be worn to a restaurant or the movies. For the face, you don’t need as thick and heavy of a primer and foundation combo. A simple BB cream and mineral powder will do the trick for a gentle full coverage. For the eyes, I would still prime those bad boys. Using the same Lorac Pro Palette in the color Nude, pat this all over the lid, inner corner of the eye, and into 1/4 the lower lash line before the lash growth begins. Using an Urban Decay 24/7 Blue Eyeliner blend it from where the shadow on the lash line begins. It will blend together from a turquoise into the blue liner. Line your waterline with the Black Urban Decay 24/7 liner. Using a liquid liner, make a small line across the top lash line as a map of where the lashes will go. I recommend using Kiss eyelashes with this look and winging the liquid liner out after you apply them. With an angled blush brush, stroke Physicians Formula Mood Boosting Blush across the apples of your cheeks. For the lips, using a light pink lip gloss will compliment the shimmery eyes the best. And that’s it! 3 Girls Night Out looks that will surely make a statement. Have fun!
